I’ve had this post as an idea for some time now, but it’s actually perfect that it didn’t come to fruition until this pandemic. We are all spending more time at home, so now is the perfect time to incorporate some new home goods or switch your line up. While I’d love to re-decorate some areas in our apartment (we actually did our patio in May!), that is often pretty expensive or time consuming at the very least. A more budget friendly way to spruce up your space (and make it a bit cleaner with nontoxic products) is to incorporate new home goods items, whether it is a new hand soap or even a fresh room spray.

Today I wanted to share my go-to brands for home products, whether I’m doing the dishes or wanting a mood booster for a relaxing evening. Enjoy!

HOME PRODUCTS

  • Branch Basics. My OG for home cleaning. I reviewed Branch Basics products here, but basically I use them for everything from laundry, to cleaning sprays. They are nontoxic and effective. I know some people like their “Clorox" wipes, but honestly if I need a to-go wipe, I will just put a paper towel in a bag and spray it with all-purpose spray. I did this when we flew to Dallas in June and it worked great. I’ve been asked if I add essential oils to BB laundry detergent and my answer is no, I don’t. I used to love “scented detergents” but now I can’t stand them. They linger and give me headaches. I do use dryer balls in the dryer and sprinkle some EO’s on those! My favorite is lavender, but I’ve been using a lot of clove lately. I don’t prefer to use BB sprays / concentrate for dish washer liquid, cleaning pans, or glass cleaner. Other options for those below.

  • Now Foods. I use them for a lot of different things, but regarding home goods, I LOVE their essential oils. Such great prices and superior products. I have this diffuser and it works well!

  • Primally Pure. I first started purchasing from them because I love their deodorant, but they recently launched a seasonal home line and it is so good! It’s actually what you see photographed here :) This line is summer, but I know they have plans to come out with new products each season and maybe even some bonus items! I bought the hand soap, essential oil, and the room spray as a set, but you can buy them individually. They also carry actual palo santo which makes for a good little home goodie too! Don’t sleep on their bath salts if that is more of your vibe! Use discount code ELLEMULENOS for 10% off.

  • Puracy. I love Puracy for their dish soap and their dishwasher pods. They are essentials in this house! I also like their gel hand soap. So far citrus and sea salt is my favorite scent in the hand soap, but I really like the green tea / lime for the dish soap.

  • Aunt Fannie’s. My favorite Aunt Fannie’s product is the cleaning vinegar! While I like other brands for their catchall products that can be used multiple ways, I like Aunt Fannie’s for specific things. The other solution we love is their glass cleaner! They also have great bug specific products and sprays for things like ants, roaches, and even fruit flies! I also like their dish soap.

HOME UTENSILS

  • BKR Bottle. I have been using these for years! I love that they are glass and that they offer a liter sizing. They are super easy to clean too as they go straight in the dishwasher.

  • Blue Dot Water Filter. Okay so we don’t actually have this yet due to the pandemic, but basically it is a water filter that connects under your kitchen sink! I have looked at the Berkey Filters, but for some reason those can’t ship to California. These don’t have to be displayed and are less money too! I think it should finally arrive next month. We pre-ordered in January and can’t wait to get our hands on it!

  • Stasher Bags. Practical and easily cleaned in your dishwasher. Use these instead of ziploc baggies.

  • Bees Wax Wraps. Forgo your saran wrap or foil and re-use these. They are also good for wrapping food like sandwiches in versus using a plastic bag.

  • Glass Bowls. We love to use these to store food in, as you can order lids too. They bonus for using glass bowls for Tupperware is that you can easily heat the food in the container as is, whereas with plastic you have to put it in a different container.

Something we haven’t tried yet are re-usable paper towels. I want to, but with how much drool Dino makes, I feel like I’d have to wash them several times a week. It might be a different story if I didn’t have to pay $2 per wash load and $1.25 per dry load… but yeah. They are definitely on my list! Something I’ve been eyeing are these produce bags. They help keep your greens and such fresh / not go bad as quickly. While we are on the more sustainable route, one of my recent favorite home products is my Evapolar Personal cooler. It is more sustainable and eco-friendly than an AC unit and helps me cool down while I’m working. Read my review of it here. Another way to freshen up your home literally is by adding plants. These contribute to good air quality among other things, plus they are pretty! The fiddle fig in this post is REAL. Nick is a great little gardener and takes wonderful care of all our plants.

Do you have any favorite home goods or recommendations? Would like to try them and add them to my list!
