How we have practically finished a full week in the month of December completely baffles me. I feel like it was just August! Anyway, with December in full swing, parties galore are just around the corner! If you follow me on Instagram, then you know my first Christmas party of the season was last Saturday! (see pic of me and my cute bf here ;) ) I wore this exact look and received SO many compliments.

Since it is only the beginning of the month, I figure that you still have a couple parties to attend and don't know exactly what you are going to wear yet; so, I am happy to help! Here are my top 3 things to think about when dressing for your holiday party, to ensure that the Christmas tree isn't the only thing that stands out this season ;)

1) The Dress. 99.9% of the time I say pick the dress first. You may have a pair of stunner shoes, but it will be easier shopping without them in mind, so they don't reduce your options. Right now, I'm really into golds and maroons, which just happen to be super trendy, too! Gold is definitely more formal, but burgundy can be equally as classy. Just remember that you need to feel comfortable in it - no pulling up at a strapless top or pulling down on a skirt that might be too short. Stand up, sit down, and dance around, before you decide to don it that evening.

2) The Accessory. This is what will set you apart from the crowd, so choose wisely! My "accessory" in this case was my jacket. My dress by itself was cute, but with the coat it went from an A- to and A+! Whether it is a hair pin, an awesome pair of statement earrings, or my current favorite - fur, grab something that will make you feel happy and pretty, all-the-while, getting you noticed by others!

3) The Pop. Think of this as the icing on the cake! Now is the time to think about those statement shoes you wanted to consider pre-dress. My "pop" was my lip color, that also coordinated with my nail polish. Honestly that is the easiest and my favorite thing to do. Call me unoriginal, but lipstick is so in right now, so you can really get away with it for any occasion!

What's your favorite way to pick out your party look? With so many parties and people, I hope this helped you Christmas party shop (even if it is just in your own closet) with fresh ideas!
