Le Soleil d'Or - Golden Sun Cayman

Le Soleil d'Or - Golden Sun Cayman

***I received a complimentary stay at Le Soleil d'Or via Foodie Tribe. Opinions are my own.

I don't know about y'all, but this Monday was THE WORST. I mean nothing bad actually happened...just super tired from a delayed flight back from San Francisco, along with the stresses of wedding planning and life in general. I'm not sure if it's become apparent, but I haven't been paying attention to my blog content as much as I usually do. I don't want to say that I'm in a rut, because I'm not; however, sometimes you just have to take it easy...and I'm not good at that.

The last time I remember "taking it easy" was on my trip to Le Soleil d'Or (Golden Sun Cayman), on Cayman Brac, one of the Cayman Islands. Cayman Brac is a 12 mile long island, that is only about 1.5 miles wide. The locals say that there are about 2000 people who live there, but we saw maybe 30 people? It may not be a private island, but it is probably the closest I'll ever get to one!

I'm not sure where I'll even begin, but I'll try to put the beauty and grace of Le Soleil d'Or into words. I'll break it into 4 categories. P.S. If you want to see more photos of the property, check out this post.

Service - I knew it was going to be a great stay, upon arriving at the airport. It's a tiny little gem, for sure; however I wouldn't trade it for anything. It adds to the experience ;) We were picked up at the front of the airport, with smiling faces and helping hands. Upon arrival, we were taken to the restaurant for a welcome meal. The restaurant staff, as well as the fitness instructors, farmers, and everyone else, were just so kind and attentive. For my millennial generation, customer service is key. It is what makes the difference and Le Soleil d'Or definitely had this aspect down to a T! One awesome example is that their staff was willing to drive us when we needed to go somewhere. We were at the beach studio, which is a couple miles up the road. It's rather hot and sticky, so it was a real treat being toted around, instead of melting all the way to dinner.

Activities - Sure you can layout the beach or poolside, but there's so much more that Le Soleil d'Or offers! From sunset kayaking, to snorkeling at Little Cayman, and even cooking classes, the opportunities are endless. There are several different fitness classes you can take and even workout with a personal trainer. The gym overlooks the ocean, so there really isn't an excuse to not be healthy and happy, here! If you are a "doer" like me, don't worry. There's no way you're getting bored!

Food - I honestly don't want to go into too much detail, because I have several more posts dedicated to Le Soleil d'Or's food, but I'll share some yummy little things. One of the coolest parts of Golden Sun Cayman, is that it is built around a 20 acre organic farm. They are literally farm to table, as well as sea to table. Everything they make is from their garden or caught fishing, and if it's not, they  made it from scratch and/or sourced it locally. The room was stocked with homemade yogurt and granola, as well as fresh fruits and recently squeezed juices. Oh, and cookies too. Can't forget those! Their meals were such a treat - this place is for any beach lover, but foodies especially! If I had to choose my favorite food, the passion fruit comes to mind. It was so juicy and sweet. I loved eating it as is or in juice or cocktail form. My mouth is salivating just thinking of them!

Property - What can I say? The place was gorgeous. The restaurant resides next to the pool, main office, and boutique hotel. Further down the road, there are several beach studios, with a pool, ocean front access, and even a little bar and cabana. They also have beach condos and cottages available, if you'd like to step it up a notch even more; however, their rooms are amazing and you cannot go wrong with any of them. (read about all their room offerings here) The island is rather rugged, known for its bluffs, so it is a kind of raw beauty. I love visiting places that people go "wait where is that?", because you know it's going to blow up in a couple years.

See? What'd I tell you. I can't do this place justice, but I have several more posts coming and will try to help you live vicariously through me, when I can. Bottom line is that if you can get to Le Soleil d'Or in Cayman Brac, go! It's not a matter of if I'll be back, but when ;)

Have you ever been to Cayman Brac? What's your favorite beach vacation?
